Who are Young Carers?

Young carers are children and young people who look after someone in their family who has an illness, a disability, or is affected by mental ill-health or substance misuse.
Young carers often take on practical and emotional caring responsibilities that would normally be expected of an adult.

Young carers include children and other young people under the age of 18 who provide regular or ongoing care and emotional support to someone in their family who needs care.
If you become a Young Carers volunteer you can help them to enjoy a time away from their responsibilities.

Would you like to support children and young people and make a real difference to their lives?
Could you help a child or young person to be active and involved and enhance their social skills, improve self-confidence and enjoy a range of fun and challenging activities; enabling them to be young people first and carers second?
